Music Ministry

KGM Music Ministry

Have a passion for music?  Here are some great opportunities just for you …

… to participate in taking the Good News to unreached people, and in an area you love!

You can play a part in KGM’s music school – DAVID’S PRAISE & WORSHIP ACADEMY which is run by two professional musicians. Sponsor a qualified, needy student and/or provide needed musical instruments & equipment.

With the exception of these two needs, the school is self-supporting from fees it charges the students. It offers weekly lessons on Saturday throughout the school year (July – March) and 15-day children and youth camp workshops during the summer break (April – June).

This is not only a way to disciple young believers and train up praise and worship leaders. It is also a wonderful community service since there is nothing else like this in Byndoor or anywhere within miles. That in turn  provides a unique platform for sharing the Gospel with students, their families and friends.

Its History and Facilities

title=”Its History and Facilities”] After five years of prayer the Lord provided two professional musicians to teach and run the school.  Bobby & Rekha’s vision became a reality!

With the facilities already in place (KGM’s large training center) David’s Praise & Worship Music Academy began in April 2013 with its inaugural 15-day summer camp workshop. The turnout and enthusiasm far exceeded expectations. While hoping for 25-30 students, 85 attended! Because the interest and turnout was so strong, they plan to have two summer camp sessions going forward.

When the new school year started they began their Saturday sessions.

Its Directors

Dennis, the academy’s director, and David, his right hand man, music-facilityare both accomplished musicians and love teaching music. Both are devout believers eager to use their gifts and talents to share the Gospel and disciple their students.

Dennis earns his living as a music teacher at several schools: a Muslim school in another village about 14 miles north of Byndoor and two schools in Byndoor – a Christian school and a Hindu school. In addition, Dennis is a sought after as a guest praise & worship leader in churches throughout the area and for special events; he is routinely on several TV programs; and he serves as praise & worship leader for Peace Valley Church (the church Bobby George pastors). Dennis moved to Byndoor in August 2013 so he could begin focusing his passion and talents on teaching music at the academy to believers and to students from his Hindu and Muslim schools who were interested in improving their musical skills and learning about Jesus. You can see from the big smile on his face why he makes a wonderful praise & worship leader and teacher – he’s full of the joy of the Lord!

The School’s Mission

The purpose of the school is not only to teach children, teenagers and young adults how to play musical instruments (guitar, keyboard and drums) but also to train its students to become praise and worship leaders – for their churches and for traveling evangelism teams. Like all other KGM ministries there is an even higher calling – to provide a platform for outreach and disciplining opportunities. Because it is the first and only such school in or near their town it will draw many unbelievers and provide many opportunities to share the gospel with its students and their families and friends, and to disciple believers.

Saturday Sessions

music-saturday The Saturday sessions consist of 1 ½ hour lessons for guitar, keyboard and rhythm pad. Each session starts with a devotional and prayer. When the school is fully operationally, it will offer 12 sessions each Saturday – four sessions for each instrument (two morning and two afternoon) in order to accommodate different skill levels.

Summer Camp Workshops

Each summer two three 15-day camp sessions will be offered, each accommodating up to 100 students comprised of children and youth.

Students will live on the KGM compound sleeping in the children’s home, guest quarters and in the training center building, and the school will provide all their meals.

The overarching goal of the program is to teach this younger generation about keeping God’s commandments, and how to resist the temptations and bad influences they will encounter in their society. The camps will also promote full time ministry.

The camps are open to both believers and non-believers. Because it is the only such music program offered in this area it attracts from a large area and it provides an exciting opportunity for exposing non-believers to the gospel. The gospel will be shared and explained to all the students. They will be taught about Jesus, the will of God and characteristics of the Christian life. They will be expected to exhibit those qualities and demonstrate proper behavior during the camp –especially being courtesy to one another, showing respect to the teachers and other camp workers, and being on time and following a schedule.

The camps are staffed by professional music teachers and pastors, all of whom are strong believers. All students will first be instructed on camp rules and what they can expect during the camp. The staff enforces the rules in a loving way.

For many of the students this will be their first exposure to a structured environment outside of school. Nearly all the students will most likely never have attended anything like this. Many will not have even played group games like they will experience! And, a significant number of the students will be from very poor homes where they are seldom able to eat good, healthy meals like they will be served at the camp.

The school will charge fees sufficient to cover all the operating expenses of the camps – salaries for teachers and workers, food, and rent for the training center (to cover utilities and contribute to the building maintenance fund). But a significant number of the students are unable to afford the fees or the full amount. This is where we rely on sponsors to provide scholarships. If all the needy students are sponsored all the operating expenses will be covered.

The school provides all the musical instruments that are required. Currently, however, the school does not have all the needed instruments and equipment. We are seeking help in purchasing these instruments and equipment (see link below).
