Have a heart for evangelism? Here’s your opportunity ….
…. to help expose large numbers of unreached people to the gospel.
Support the evangelism ministry of Karnataka Gospel Mission. The ministry’s activities include outreach events, crusades, revivals, TV broadcasts and distribution of tracts, CDs and other materials.
Evangelism and outreach is a key component in getting the good news out. And because so many people in Karnataka have never even heard the name ‘Jesus’ and the Gospel has been muzzled for so long, exposure to the masses is essential. Therefore, it is our desire to help KGM take advantage of every opportunity that is presented.
CTC facilitates this support by recruiting partners like you to sponsor events and provide funds to:
- Purchase necessary equipment & supplies
- Buy tracts and CDs/DVDs
- Prepare sermon & teaching DVDs
- Cover event expenses including food for attendees
- Help cover travel and other expenses in conducting crusades
Our sponsor/partners benefit by learning about the areas where the evangelism events and activities take place and receiving reports and pictures of the events and the results. This allows them to see firsthand the impact of their kingdom investment!
The state of Karnataka has seen some of the worst of that persecution. In fact, Karnataka was named in 2009 by The Voice of The Martyrs as the location with the highest rate of persecution in the world! The ability of KGM, its pastors and believers to engage in open evangelism was virtually shut down until 2012. Physical persecution had been severe for many years. Some of KGM’s pastors suffered beatings. Some of its churches were ransacked and badly damaged. One pastor was beaten so severely that he spent ten days in intensive care. And he had his church trashed, his minivan burned, his motorcycle destroyed! Persecution began subsiding somewhat when the anti-Christian political party lost most of its remaining control at the national level in 2011. Then in 2012 that party lost the Karnataka state elections. This resulted in some reduction of the wholesale physical persecution which had been rampant. Until late 2012 year and early 2013 the level of persecution prohibited any and all evangelism activity. Then doors began to open. Now, the Gospel can be shared openly in some areas without too much concern– mostly rural areas. In other areas it is still not safe.Persecution has made evangelism outreach almost an impossibility until recently
Each April while school is out for the summer KGM holds its annual Believers Convention at the KGM Training Center in Byndoor. This is similar to what we would call a revival meeting. It is the one time each year when believers, family and friends from all the KGM churches all over the state come together, to have combined praise & worship and receive special biblical teaching. Key guest preachers and teachers are brought in to lead in-depth teaching on specific topics each year. Professional praise & worship teams are also brought in. Attendance at its 2014 convention was over 400. After the convention the KGM pastors will stay there with their families for two-three days for a time of fellowship and training workshops. August On August 15th of each KGM celebrates India’s Independence Day. This is a one-day event with an emphasis on outreach primarily to community leaders. October During the two-week national holiday period while the Hindus are celebrating the Festival of Lights KGM takes advantage of the time the children are out of school to have its annual 2-day youth camp. This has proven to be one of KGM’s best opportunities to share the Gospel with youth and expose them to biblical teaching. About 200 youth attend.KGM’s Annual Events
TV Ministry
They hold praise & worship, gospel preaching events and showing the Jesus Film (in the state’s primary language) in as many villages as possible. Their activities will be centered primarily in two regions of the state that are more open and where the people particularly receptive. We are hoping that many of the events can be open air and widely publicized. Otherwise, the events will be held in available church buildings. We have been praying about this for over two years now and are extremely excited about the possibility. God has miraculously provided for what we thought would be our biggest obstacle – a small bus to carry the evangelism team members, musical instruments and sound equipment. A partner ministry in the neighboring state of Kerala, who became aware of our plans and the need, is making their fully equipped 10-passenger bus available to us without cost! With the bus they will also be providing the needed musical instruments, p.a. system and generator. KGM needs funds to cover their expenses: gas, food for the team members, cost to rent a large tent and plastic chairs, printing flyers and banners. In addition they plan to serve food to those in attendance. This will be a demonstration of love to these people who are so poor that their diet seldom if ever includes meat, and many live on only one or two bowls of rice per day. So the KGM team will be serving a rice & chicken curry dish that will be a treat and a blessing to all. Reminds me of Jesus feeding the 5,000! The length of the tour and the number of villages the team will be able to cover will depend on the amount of support we are able to raise. They need $450/day. Therefore, the total funds needed if the KGM team is able to achieve all it wants to accomplish, and cover all the villages planned is $9,450. Please join us in praying for this incredible opportunity and consider participating with your financial resources. We are dedicated to being good stewards of your resources. KGM provides CTC written reports of all evangelism expenditures and the results of each event together with pictures, which are then sent to you. Our Commitment to you is to: I/we would like to contribute to help take advantage of every opportunity to tell these unreached people about Jesus!
