Whether you are an individual, a Sunday school class, or small group here’s your opportunity to have your own mission ministry in India, where over 1.2 billion people (nearly 20% of the world’s population) are unsaved, and most have not even heard the Gospel. You’ll be using your hands, working from your home. You don’t have to physically go to the mission field, but we encourage you to if you can, and we’ll help make it possible.
Sponsoring a pastor in India is a powerful way you can participate directly and relationally in Great Commission work. These pastors are missionaries and church planters as well – taking the Gospel to their own people. When you sponsor a pastor you are partnering with him. So that makes you a missionary church planter and evangelist too. Those who become Christ’s disciples because of your partner’s work will be credited to your heavenly account as well. Now that’s exciting!
Your $50 per month will cover about 25% of a pastor and his family’s basic living expenses – food, clothing, and medical expenses, and provide a small amount for other needs. Should you, your group or your church want to help more you can sponsor at $100 to cover 50% of his family expenses or $200 to cover all their expenses.
When you sponsor a pastor we ask you to:
- commit to providing your financial support for at least twelve months
- sign up for our email list so we can keep you abreast of ministry activities and needs
- pray regularly for your sponsored pastor, his church and the ministry of Karnataka Gospel Mission
- Contact us if we can help you in any way with your ministry
We will:
- provide you with a picture and information about the pastor you sponsor;
- provide you periodic written and pictorial updates on how your pastor & his church are doing
- regularly provide news and pictures about KGM’s ministry through our blog and email updates,
- give you the opportunity to go on mission trips with us so you can meet your pastor in person and learn about the mission field in Karnataka and India first hand!
These missionary pastors you and others will be supporting are working in hostile, impoverished environments where there are few believers and progress can be painfully slow. So they will need your encouragement. They will need to know you care and that you are praying for them and their specific needs. Knowing the Lord has someone halfway around the world who is praying for them and who cares enough to write regularly provides that extra boost that is often needed just to keep them going. Your monetary support, in addition to providing for his family’s basic needs, will also give him more time to pastor his flock and the time required to disciple dedicated believers to start bible studies and plant churches. The amount of monthly support for these pastors is generally set at an amount equal to the average income of the people in the area where he is ministering – for two key reasons. First, so that their income is adequate but not at higher than those they serve. And, second, so that financial support is not an inducement to join the ministry. Their support is also limited to a time period of about two years as it is intended to cover their living expenses until their church has grown to the point that it can support them at the same level. Both the amount of support and the duration vary depending on local circumstances. Both are reviewed by KGM and CTC on an annual basis. About these pastors and what your support will do .…
